We provide legal advice on institutional finance raised from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Nippon Export and Investment Insurance and other export credit agencies worldwide as well as on private financial institutions’ financing for import/export transactions or overseas business utilizing institutional finance. Our extensive experience in the world’s key financial centers enables us to advise lenders, export credit agencies, commodity traders, multilateral institutions, equity investors and other corporate borrowers on weathering shocks and successfully pursuing trade finance transactions throughout the world, particularly in emerging markets.
Representative Experience
- Advised a Japanese public financial institution and export credit agency on its USD185 million loan to the steel pipe manufacturing and sales business of Japanese companies in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
- Advised a Japanese public financial institution and export credit agency on the provision of an export credit line to a state-owned development bank in Angola in connection with the Angola-Brazil underwater cable project.
- Advised a Japanese public financial institution and export credit agency on a loan agreement with a commercial bank in Morocco to finance the purchase by local companies of general machinery and equipment from Japanese companies.
- Advised a Japanese public financial institution and export credit agency on a loan agreement with a leading producer of phosphorus- and nitrogen-based fertilizers in Russia to purchase production plant facilities.
- Advised the arranger and lender on a USD600 million Japanese ECA-backed loan to finance the development of a gas and light crude oil field in Venezuela.
- Advised the lenders on a EUR250 million Japanese ECA-backed untied credit facility to a state-owned toll road company for a toll road project in Zagreb, Croatia.
