Prior to joining the Firm, he worked at Keidanren (the Japan Business Federation) as an in-house lawyer where he engaged in research, formulated policy proposals and engaged in lobbying related to corporate law, including competition law.

Masayuki focuses his practice on antitrust and competition law. He has particularly extensive experience advising on M&A transaction-related regulatory issues, such as merger control, foreign direct investment (FDI) and the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR).

- Represented numerous Japanese and foreign companies in multijurisdictional merger control matters.
- Advised Japanese and foreign companies on regulatory compliance in the context of antitrust and competition law as well as distribution regulations.
- Advised Japanese and foreign companies on FDI.
- Advised Japanese companies on the EU FSR.
- Involved in reviewing and amending the Antimonopoly Act and related rules and guidelines, including the following:
- review of the Administrative Surcharge System, etc. (2019)
- partial amendments to the Antimonopoly Act introducing the Commitment Procedure (2016)
- formulation of the Guidelines on Administrative Investigation Procedures under the Antimonopoly Act (2015)
- Involved in amending claim-related provisions in the Civil Code.
