Baker McKenzie Healthcare Forum “Addressing the legal challenges of drug life cycle management – Update on recent developments in North America, Europe, China and Japan”
Baker McKenzie is pleased to announce that on Thursday 13 December 2018 we will be hosting a forum focused on the legal challenges posed by drug life cycle management.
It goes without saying that when a drug comes off patent, it can have a significant commercial impact on pharmaceutical companies, and this makes it critical for innovative pharmaceutical companies to formulate and implement appropriate strategies to mitigate the impact of patent expiration. The issues associated with patent cliff span multiple areas of law — including patent law, pharmaceutical industry regulation and antitrust law — requiring a multi-faceted approach.
This is a hot area in many jurisdictions including North America, Europe, China and Japan, where developments in judicial decisions and business practice can be seen on a daily basis. Patent linkage, in particular, is one area where there are material differences in the legal framework from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. It will be imperative for businesses to understand similarities and differences in formulating and implementing their life cycle management strategies.
We are delighted to be able to host a forum in which to outline recent developments in the major global pharma markets and provide an opportunity for participants to consider and discuss practical approaches in life cycle management.
In this session, we hope to provide participants with latest information on critical topics such as patent linkage, product hopping, authorized generics, reverse payment and disparagement.
Baker McKenzie lawyers from North America, Europe and Asia Pacific specializing in these areas will join their colleagues in Tokyo to share their thoughts on patent cliff-related developments and reactions to such developments and related legal issues, and to discuss how an innovative pharmaceutical company can effectively address them both in Japan and abroad.
