About
We provide trademark portfolio management services for the world’s largest trademark portfolio holders. These include services for both overseas companies in need of assistance in Japan and for Japan-based companies with overseas trademark portfolios. Our services include assisting with and advising on trademark searches, registration applications, oppositions, cancellation and invalidation trials and trademark infringement actions. We also assist with the management of local and global trademark portfolios.
In collaboration with Baker McKenzie’s vast network of offices worldwide, we also assist Japanese clients in obtaining and enforcing trademark rights in foreign jurisdictions. We can provide trademark portfolio management support to Japanese clients directly or through our Intellectual Property Support Unit (“IPSU”) and Global IP Manager database.
Representative Experience
- Managed Japanese and global trademark portfolios for multinational manufacturers of personal care products, luxury products, foods and beverages, pharmaceutical products, daily commodities, electronics and IT equipment.
- Assisted with trademark registration applications, registration proceedings, opposition petitions and cancellation and invalidation trials at the Japan Patent Office.
- Assisted in the procurement of international trademark registrations through the Madrid Protocol.
- Developed global trademark portfolio protection strategies and filed trademark registration applications in various countries on behalf of major Japanese companies.
