Cross-border life science business: Study session on the latest legal trend
Baker & McKenzie (Gaikokuho Joint Enterprise) will be holding a briefing session on legal issues frequently faced by companies engaged in the development, manufacturing and marketing of pharmaceutical products and medical devices in the US, Europe and China. Lawyers based in these countries from Baker McKenzie’s Global Life Sciences Industry Group will be invited as speakers. The session is scheduled to take place from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Tuesday 6 June at the Hotel Okura Tokyo.
During this session, we will discuss some common legal issues faced by businesses, focusing on the following.
- Regulatory overview: regulatory issues in connection with licensing/approval and collaboration with local distributors that arise during each stage of the R&D, manufacturing and marketing of medical products, and regulatory/practical tips for acquiring a business
- “Data”: data protection regimes and laws/regulations in relation to the use of data collected through health information technology, recent trends in the collection/use of personal data and the balance between data use and regulatory requirements
- Compliance: the definition of “off-label use” of medications and rules for the promotion of off-label use, trends in the application of the US FCPA, UK Bribery Act, and Japanese Unfair Competition Prevention Act in the context of the healthcare industry and recent developments in anti-corruption laws/regulations in China
- Deadline for seminar registration is Wednesday 31 May 2017.
