Digitalisation and technological disruption remain at the top of the agenda for Consumer Goods & Retail businesses across the globe in 2018.

Digitalisation creates as many challenges as it opens up opportunities. Doing business globally has become increasingly complex with pressures to innovate, adopt transformative technologies, create personalised consumer experiences, and exploit yet protect endless amounts of data. Businesses need to navigate a myriad of existing laws and regulations (which differ from one country to the next, and often lag behind technological progress) and scan the horizon for new emerging legislation. Technology and digitalisation raise complex legal issues across the spectrum, ranging from employment to IP, data protection, cybersecurity, M&A, tax, antitrust and so forth. With technology developing faster than the law, the answers to legal questions are often unclear.。

This Round Table will focus on digital privacy and digital payments in Japan, the US, Europe, and Asia,  two “hot” digitalisation topics, and explore how businesses can best navigate the regulatory and compliance challenges raised by both. The seminar will conclude with a keynote speech by Tsugu Nagase, L’Oreal’s Chief Digital Officer, who will share his views and experiences from an industry perspective.
