Baker McKenzie advises Gunkul Engineering Public Company Limited on its development and financing of a mega solar power project in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan
Tokyo, Japan, January 23, 2017 – Baker & McKenzie (Gaikokuho Joint Enterprise) advised Gunkul Engineering Public Company Limited (“Gunkul Engineering”) on its development and financing of a mega solar power project in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture.
Gunkul Engineering is a leading Thailand-based engineering company engaged in manufacturing and supplying electrical equipment for power distribution systems as well as developing and operating power plants, including those powered by renewable energy sources.
Gunkul Engineering will acquire, construct and operate a 38.1 MW mega solar power project in Sendai. The project finance was arranged by Mizuho Bank, Ltd. with the participation of 8 local banks.
The Firm’s team was led by Naoaki Eguchi, head of the Tokyo office’s Banking & Finance Practice Group, with the strong support of Taijiro Suzuki of Tokyo and Permsak Krairiksh of Bangkok. From the Tokyo office, Shinichi Kobayashi, Keisuke Misuda, Takuya Wada, Takashi Osawa, Yoko Ishii and Takehito Sekiguchi also assisted with the case.
